Today NYC:Invitations - a website which does a variety of charity and business events ran an article on me, as part of their series of "Inspiring Individuals." Part of the interview is posted below along with a link to their site where the rest is available.
Tell us about Michael Abraham Gem Stones.
I am a gemologist, and have always been interested in fine gems. I have been working mainly in jewelry design the last few years, but wanted to get back to my roots. I have always done custom pieces for people, and sourced gems, but now I have decided to focus on that aspect of my business. So Michael Abraham gems, is basically about connecting fine gems with private clients, who will wear and appreciate them.
I read that your gem interest began as a child, here in the States. What stones or rocks or caves are most memorable Stateside? Any that you would visit again?
As a child I went often with my parents around the US camping out, and hunting for stones. Some memorable places were in Montana, where we looked for sapphires, upstate New York, in Herkimer where we went searching for “Herkimer Diamonds” (which are really quartz crystals of exceptional beauty). Also, I have fond memories of being in Kemmerer Wyoming collecting fossil fish.
